Frozen Shoulder/ Rotator Cuff

Acupuncture can be used to accelerate healing of rotator cuff injuries and minor tears in the rotator cuff. Surgery is required if the muscles involved in the rotator cuff injury are significantly torn. Acupuncture can help accelerate healing after the surgery is performed in this case.

Acupuncture and other modalities of Chinese medicine are extremely effective in reducing and eliminating the immobility and pain associated with frozen shoulder. The condition can be improved, but not eliminated, with just a few treatments. The condition can be eliminated with continued treatment.

What is a rotator cuff injury?

The rotator "cuff" is a group of 4 tendons and muscles that form a "cuff" around your shoulder that holds your arm in place and allows it to move in different directions. Too much stress on the "cuff" can cause swelling of the tendons and partial tears to the muscles. Many rotator cuff injuries happen over time, but some happen suddenly causing intense pain and weakness in the arm.

What is "frozen shoulder"?
