Carpal tunnel / RSI
Acupuncture effectively treats both carpal tunnel syndrome and RSI, with lasting results. Surgery to correct carpal tunnel syndrome is effective only 50% of the time. By addressing the root causes of these conditions, they are resolved naturally.
What causes RSI, Tendonitis, and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?
- Repetitive overuse
- Changes during pregnancy
What is RSI?
Repetitive strain injuries are considered injuries of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems as a result of repetitive motion. Frequently it involves the forearm, wrist or hands. Bursitis, carpal tunnel syndrome and tendonitis fall into the RSI category.
What is carpal tunnel syndrome?
Carpal tunnel syndrome begins when the median nerve becomes squeezed at the wrist. The median nerve, which runs from the forearm to the palm, controls sensations to the palm side of the thumb and fingers, as well as the hand. The carpal tunnel houses this median nerve and tendons. Sometimes the tunnel is narrowed from thickening of irritated tendons or swelling from fluid accumulation during pregnancy.
What is tendonitis?
Tendonitis is the inflammation of a tendon generally from overuse; however, age and hormone levels can also be underlying causes of tendonitis.
"I went to Lisa at Middle Path Acupuncture at 40+ weeks pregnant with pain in both hands from pregnancy related carpal tunnel syndrome. After 2 sessions I was completely pain free. I also asked Lisa for treatment for stuffy sinuses."
