Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a time and a process to be experienced to the fullest, not simply endured. By knowing how to appreciate and work with your body, you can transform the process of pregnancy and childbirth into a season of personal growth that will equip you to forge ahead as a parent, and a healthier, more mature and understanding human being.

Here is an important idea that will hold true during pregnancy, when you have a new baby, and for years afterward: take good care of yourself so that you can take good care of your baby. Know that you may need to make many changes throughout your pregnancy and that you will need to be on the receiving end as well as being the giver.

Research Findings

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), acupuncture alone has been found useful for relieving labor pain, nausea, vomiting and significantly reducing the duration of labor. There is also strong evidence that acupuncture can help with a breech birth (6,7).

Acupuncture alone can help to normalize the central nervous system and the endocrine system which helps to normalize hormonal function. Acupuncture can also be effectively used to treat fatigue, anxiety, pain resulting from structural imbalances, and carpal tunnel syndrome.

Conclusion

Acupuncture and Chinese medicine provide safe, natural, drug-free and effective ways to address pregnancy-related conditions. The focus is to restore a balanced and continuous flow of Qi throughout the physical body and mind.
